Flinders Ranges

Flinders Ranges is South Australia's largest mountain range 384 km north of Adelaide. Parts of the ranges are national parks. It stretches over 430 km from Port Pirie to Lake Callabonna. Its most characteristic landmark is Wilpena Pound, a large, sickle-shaped, natural amphitheatre covering nearly 80 square kilometres. It contains the range's highest peak, St Mary Peak, at 1170 metres.

The Pichi Richi Railway is a tourist railway using parts of the former Central Australia Railway. It is headquartered in Quorn and runs through the Pichi Richi Pass to Port Augusta. Bookings can be arranged at Wadlata Outback Centre on 1800 440 101, or pick up a current timetable brochure at most Tourist Information Centres.
